newyorkpress.com Interviews BABYLON
Web Magazine - interview BIOHAZARD - NYC Tragedy Reactions at KNAC.com Live Review by Chris Garrison As we stood in the line that stretched around the corner, the freezing ass weather, (freezing for L.A. anyways), was getting to us. But everybody knew it would be well worth the wait. We eventually got in, got some drinks, and headed for the second floor balcony to enjoy some very lively sets by Kidney Thieves and Candiria. Candiria kicked ass and really set the tone for the night to come. Holy shit! There they are! The Hazard was in an adjacent room with a window on the second floor taking pictures in their usual crazy ass poses. If youve seen their pictures you know what I mean. Finally Danny came over to the window to check out the bands down below and saw us waving at him and me holding up my D.F.L. card. He laughed, called Billy over, and they both waved and told us to hold on. They came down their own set of stairs down to the lobby individually, but unfortunately I missed Evan and Leo. Fuck that, I hauled ass down our stairs, through the crowd, and caught Danny. He was so cool and asked what I thought of the new record. He signed my D.F.L. card and was on his way out when soon after Billy came by and he signed my card and we talked a bit, too. Showtime! They opened with Victory and fuckin rocked through new and old songs alike. I cant remember all of them from the adrenaline and alcohol, but there were many highlights. The new songs like Sellout, H.F.F.K. and Last Man Standing blew the crowd away. The old songs brought back memories for me, and the house down for everyone else. The pit went crazy during Punishment and I was so close to the stage. All of a sudden, as I was watching the action in the pit, a powerful hand grabbed my shoulder out of nowhere and spun me around. Oh my God, Billy got on my shoulders nd kept playing through Punishment! I almost dropped his ass, but I held him for a little bit. I put him down, he shook my hand and I helped him back on stage. They played These Eyes and closed with Hold My Own for a totally memorable set not to mention night. Afterwards, pictures, autographs, and great conversation in the bar for all! L.A. cant wait for the boyz to come back and terrorize once again. Thanks for a great show guys! D.F.L. "There
is a typhoon here and BIOHAZARD is the best band voted by the audience
in our festival!!!" -Freddy Lin, Taiwan Rock Ally Uncivilization Review from Portsmouth News Regional Newspaper Biohazard, Uncivilization, (SPV/Steamhammer), 5 out of 5 Pardon?!? You'll have to speak up, I'm a tad deaf, and the noise of the builders removing the remnants of my speakers from the front room wall, isn't helping either. Slamming down it's foot with the syncopated opening of Sell-out, Uncivilization is a pure slice of Hard-Core metal that will have the imitators (for imitators read Limp Bizkit), huddled up in a corner, crying, terrified that they've been found out. In fact, the track Plastic could be about them. Produced by Billy Graziadei (guitar/vox) and Danny Schuler (drums) and aided and abetted by Evan Seinfeld (bass/vox) and new guy Leo Curley (guitar), they have finally nailed their own sound onto disc, instead of someone else's notion of how they should sound. Having seen the energy of their live show, I can envision the onstage leaping around transferred into the recording studio. Lyrically, this album is a social commentary on the sins of human nature, H.F.F.K. (greed) and Domination (oppression) and a mantra for inner strength and friendship, Get Away, the superb Cross the Line (a kind of warped version of Rainbow's - Since you've been Gone) and the spanking Last Man Standing, which is also worth a mention as it features Cypress Hill's Sen-Dog. Okay, so this album is not a party album. Nevertheless, when the alternative is whining Nu-Metallers and forth rate Punk (you know who you are Wheatus and OPM), I would rather be Uncivilized. Definitely my contender for metal album of the year so far. |
